About Guitar Level 3 Course:

The Level 3 guitar course is the beginning of the intermediate journey for the students. It requires students to have an electric guitar and amplifier. Students by now have developed a solid foundation on acoustic guitar and are ready to explore the techniques over electric guitar.

It offers a comprehensive learning experience for intermediate students, focusing on developing technical precision, musical expression, and the ability to perform confidently. The curriculum includes performance pieces, technical exercises, and session skills, ensuring a well-rounded progression in both theoretical and practical aspects of guitar playing.

Prerequisites:

• Age 8 years and above.
• Instrument (Acoustic guitar).
• Interest in music and learning guitar skills.
• Completion of Guitar Level 2 or equivalent experience.
• Electric guitar and amplifier.
• Knowledge of barre chords, 2 octave major minor scales, and uptill eighth note and tied rhythm patterns.
• Ability to read standard notation and tablature.
• Identify time signature and key signature (Eflat Major to A Major).

Technical Exercises:

• Scales (Two Octaves in Quarter Notes, Tempo: 90 bpm):
  • Major scale starting on 6th string 
  • Minor scale starting on 6th string 
  • Minor pentatonic starting on 6th string 
  • Major pentatonic starting at 6th string
  • Blues scale starting on 6th string

• Arpeggios (One Octave in Quarter Notes, Tempo: 90 bpm):
  • Major Arpeggios starting 6th string
  • Minor Arpeggio starting on 6th string 
• Chords:
  • Major and Minor Barre Chords: Played in a continuous sequence
  • Dominant 7th (A, C, D, E): Strummed once and then picked (arpeggiated)
• Riff (Tempo: 90 bpm):
  • Practise the riff from the Grade 3 book to a backing track, changing the root note while maintaining the same shape

The Level 4 guitar course builds upon the foundation laid in previous levels, focusing on deeper musical understanding, technical proficiency, and stylistic versatility. Students will explore a diverse range of performance pieces, technical exercises, and session skills, challenging them to refine their playing and develop their individual musical voice.

Prerequisites:

• Age 8 years and above.
• Interest in music and learning guitar skills.
• Completion of Guitar Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Electric guitar and amplifier.
• Proficiency in Barre chords, 2 octave major minor and blues scales, and rhythm. patterns with ties, triplets and 16th notes.
• Ability to read standard notation and tablature.
• Basic improvisation skills over Major and Minor pentatonic scales.

  • Scales (Two Octaves in Quarter Notes, Tempo: 80 bpm):
    • Major, Natural minor, Minor pentatonic, Major pentatonic, Blues (Prepared in two fingerings from the 6th string)
  • Arpeggios (One Octave in Quarter Notes, Tempo: 80 bpm):
    • Major 7th, Minor 7th, Dominant 7th
  • Chords:
    • Major 7th, Minor 7th, Dominant 7th (Prepared on both E and A strings)
  • Riff (Tempo: 100 bpm):
    • Practice the riff from the Grade 4 book to a backing track, maintaining the same shape throughout
