The Guitar Level 1 course takes a broader approach, encompassing various musical styles and genres such as rock, pop, and jazz. It emphasises the performance aspect of playing the guitar, evaluating technical proficiency, musicality, improvisation, and stylistic awareness.

Also The technical work section assesses technical skills like scales, arpeggios, and chords. Supporting tests evaluate aural skills, sight-reading, and general musical knowledge through exercises such as clapping rhythms, identifying intervals, and sight-reading short musical passages.

  • Finished Guitar Fundamentals Course OR have mastered the key Guitar Fundamental level skills and have since acquired greater use of technique, rhythms, coordination and musical understanding.

The Level 2 Acoustic course is for candidates who have been typically learning for one year to eighteen months. They have mastered the key basic skills up to Grade 1 and since acquired greater use of technique, rhythms, coordination and musical understanding. There is also the continuing opportunity to develop improvisation skills.

About Guitar Level 3 Course:

The Level 3 guitar course is the beginning of the intermediate journey for the students. It requires students to have an electric guitar and amplifier. Students by now have developed a solid foundation on acoustic guitar and are ready to explore the techniques over electric guitar.

It offers a comprehensive learning experience for intermediate students, focusing on developing technical precision, musical expression, and the ability to perform confidently. The curriculum includes performance pieces, technical exercises, and session skills, ensuring a well-rounded progression in both theoretical and practical aspects of guitar playing.

Prerequisites:

  • Age 8 years and above.
  • Instrument (Acoustic guitar).
  • Interest in music and learning guitar skills.
  • Completion of Guitar Level 2 or equivalent experience.
  • Electric guitar and amplifier.
  • Knowledge of barre chords, 2 octave major minor scales, and uptill eighth note and tied rhythm patterns.
  • Ability to read standard notation and tablature.
  • Identify time signature and key signature (Eflat Major to A Major).

You have to note that this course demands students to have an electric guitar and amplifier, with prior extensive experience in both acoustic and electric guitar techniques.

From this course onwards, students will have an in-depth learning experience, where lessons are based on emphasizing technical mastery, expressive musicality, and confident performance.

All in all, the curriculum is robust, featuring demanding performance pieces, advanced technical exercises, and sophisticated session skills. All of this has been done to ensure a comprehensive progression in both theoretical understanding and practical application, preparing students for professional-level guitar playing.
